It is no secret there has been a lack of goals at Hull City Football Club this season and the priority addition to the squad must surely be in the guise of a striker. Well, no sooner have news agencies received word that a takeover of the club is all but signed, sealed and delivered, it appears manager Nigel Pearson is wasting absolutely no time trying to find the man to fill the goal scoring void at the Tigers…

As ever, many web based fanzines like to keep you ahead of the game when it comes to Hull City Football Club. After breaking the news earlier that a takeover over the club was imminent – and would be a done deal one way or the other – there has been little time wasted by manager Nigel Pearson to fix the current goal scoring situation at the club at the earliest opportunity.

Indeed, the Tigers boss is all set to pounce on his former club and raid Leicester City for last season’s top scorer Matty Fryatt. The 24 year old strike sensation was originally brought to the Walkers Stadium by Pearson himself during his reign in the Midlands, when paying Walsall an undisclosed fee for the forward in the January transfer window of 2006.

Since Nigel Pearson left the Foxes in the summer of this year to come to Hull City, Fryatt has been steadily tumbling down the pecking order at Leicester. Pearson’s successor – Portuguese national Paulo Sousa – was incredibly sacked just nine games into his Foxes reign. Since then, new boss Sven Goran Eriksson has brought in Darius Vassell from Manchester City on a loan basis and pushed Fryatt to the back of the striking queue at the Walkers Stadium.

With the Allam takeover breathing new life into the Tigers – and the promise of some much needed funds being poured into the manager’s coffers – many of the favourable media outlets believe that Pearson will make a bee-line for Fryatt at the earliest opportunity. At this stage, no formal comment has come from the club – and it is still unclear whether Leicester will be willing to let last season’s top scorer leave – but the overwhelming view from fanzine quarters believe that Fryatt heads Pearson’s wish list to cure the goal scoring problems at Hull City Football Club.

Of course, the intriguing and possibly pivotal point of this story perhaps rests with Leicester City. Are the Foxes willing to trade with a man who resigned from their club just weeks ago?
